The TechGrant Program was first launched in 2005 to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Leon County. Since 2005, 28 companies have benefited from $487,000 in grants awarded for the commercialization of their technologies. Most of those companies are still flourishing in the local community today.
The TechGrant Program is a competition hosted by LCRDA. Once applications are received, a group of five judges, many of whom are business leaders in the Tallahassee community, review each application and judge them based on specific criteria.
The top five companies that score the highest are invited to participate in our TechGrant Pitch Night event, where each company provides a presentation of their business commercialization plan and answers judges’ questions. The top two teams that score the highest overall are awarded grants of up to $15,000.
The competition is open to anyone in Leon County who has an original idea for technology commercialization.
