Sustainable Florida 2012 Best Practice Award
Tallahassee, Fla. — September 14, 2012 – Bing Energy International, FL was announced a recipient of the 2012 Best Practice Award at the Sustainable Florida Best Practice Awards dinner on September 13th, 2012. The Sustainable Florida Award recognizes achievements by nominees using innovative ways to preserve Florida’s natural environment.
The Tallahassee-based company’s award in the Small Business category reflects its commitment to promote a clean energy future by introducing a revolutionary new technology for hydrogen fuel cells. Bing Energy has the worldwide exclusive license for buckypaper based electrodes, an innovative nanotechnology developed at the Florida A&M University-Florida State University College of Engineering.
Fuel cell technology is widely regarded as the next evolutionary step for electric vehicles and key to implementing a carbon free, hydrogen-based economy. Fuel cells combine hydrogen and air to produce electricity, water, and heat – quietly and efficiently – and the only other by product is pure water. Fuel cells do not burn fuel, making the process quiet, pollution-free and two times more efficient than combustion.
The Sustainable Florida Best Practice Awards recognize businesses, organizations and individuals for their accomplishments and commitment to Florida’s long-term prosperity and overall environmental health. Finalists were named in the following categories: small business, large business, government, non-profit, green building, partnership and leadership. This marks the 15th year the non-profit Sustainable Florida, a program run by the Collins Center for Public Policy, handed out Best Practice Awards.
