On next Wednesday, July 25, the Lucky Goat Cold Brew Bus is coming to Innovation Park! They will be giving out cold brew from 10:00am-10:30am in front of the Don Fuqua Research Center. Come out and get your morning coffee!
MagLab Researcher Helps Discover Pink is the World's Oldest Color
Dr. Amy McKenna, a researcher at the MagLab helped conduct a study that determined pink was the oldest color in the world. The discoveries were a collaborative effort made by scientists from Australia, Japan, and the United States.
EEP Class 15 Begins October 2nd
We are pleased to announce our next Entrepreneurial Excellence Program Class (EEP) is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 2! EEP is a 10-class crash course providing valuable information to early stage businesses and entrepreneurs during their vulnerable stages of business development.
The classes include presentations by local business experts, and is a highly interactive mentor-driven program.
This class will be the first session taught by Director of Entrepreneurship, Michael Tentnowski. He has over 20 years of business development experience in the high-tech arena, is a three-time entrepreneur, and co-author of the book, “The Virginia Entrepreneur’s Guide”.Kim Williams, Vice-Chair of the Leon County Research and Development Authority, wrote a “Your Turn” opinion piece that was published in the Tallahassee Democrat regarding the Entrepreneurial Excellence Program.
Since 2011, the EEP Program has been a staple in the local entrepreneurial ecosystem, and has helped more than 150 startups grow. Innovation Park’s own Larry Lynch started the program and has recently decided to retire. Michael Tentnowski, Innovation Park’s new Director of Entrepreneurship will take over the program this Fall.
Save the Date: Tallahassee Startup Week is taking place November 5-10
Tallahassee Startup Week 2018 is slated to take place from November 5th through November 10th.
Many of Tallahassee’s entrepreneurial partners will be hosting events throughout the week, with the Showcase Event concluding the week of festivities on Saturday, November 10th.

The Office of Economic Vitality Announces New Grant Program
The Office of Economic Vitality recently announced a new workforce development grant program. The Elevate Florida’s Capital for Business: Catalyzing Workforce Development Opportunities Grant (Elevate Fund) aims to close gaps between existing workforce development programs and the identified needs of local businesses seeking to develop their human resources.
ITA Partnership: Grow Your Business, Become Export Ready
From July 25-26, 2018 Jorge Arce of the International Trade Administration will be visiting Tallahassee-Leon County to support local businesses seeking to become “export ready” for the global economy.
If you are interested in scheduling a business consultation to learn more about becoming an “export ready” company, please contact OEV Deputy Director Cristina Paredes with your preferred date and time. Appointments are on a first come, first served basis, and will be recurring on the last Wednesday and Thursday every other month.
This partnership is a direct result of Tallahassee-Leon County’s participation in the Eighth Americas Competitiveness Exchange (ACE-8) on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, during which OEV staff and Arce identified opportunities to connect local businesses to the global market through international trade and export.
