North Florida Innovation Labs is tallahassee's only technology incubator with wet lab space

North Florida Innovation Labs is North Florida’s technology incubator serving hard science, high impact companies in the region.  Our mission is to accelerate the development of technology companies through an array of business support services to produce successful firms that graduate the program financially viable and self-sufficient.

The technology incubator is strategically sited at Innovation Park of Tallahassee, a research park with extraordinary high technology resources available to the region. The Park is the home to the NSF-funded National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, the largest and highest-powered magnet lab in the world and the epicenter of most magnet research for the United States.

Co-located in the Park are the:

  • Applied Superconductivity Center
  • Center for Advanced Areo-Propulsion
  • Center for Advanced Power Systems
  • Center for Biomedical & Toxicological Research
  • Center for Information Management & Educational Services
  • Center for Interactive Media
  • Center for Ocean & Atmospheric Prediction
  • Center for Plasma Science & Technology
  • Florida DOT Structures Research Center
  • High-Performance Materials Institute
  • Institute for Energy Systems
  • Plus, several high-tech commercial ventures…

Immediately adjacent to the Park are the joint university FAMU-FSU College of Engineering with 2,500 students, and the newly redesigned Jack Nicklaus par 72 golf course.

North Florida Innovation Labs is unlike other incubators in the region.  We offer offices, but also access to shared wet lab space in a newly renovated facility.  The Park has a strong affiliation and proximity to some of the world’s leading research institutions including the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, the FSU High Performance Materials Institute, the Florida Center for Advanced Power Systems, and many more specialized facilities.

NFIL differs from other incubators/accelerators in its focus on non-dilutive capital sources.  Specialized assistance is provided for federal Small Business Innovative/TechTransfer Research grants (SBIR/STTR).

The incubator is run by experienced staff with over 25 years of experience.  It also includes an expert advisory group and a mentor network that actively guide and steer companies to position them for success and growth when they leave our program.

North Florida Innovation Labs is part of a non-profit organization that  believes in helping companies develop their ideas and grow in the Tallahassee / Big Bend region.  We provide the resources and assistance to help companies launch their business, compete for grants, and succeed in order to  create high wage jobs for the community.

Our workspaces are affordable, flexible, and available in three configurations; resident, collaborative, and virtual memberships.

While we are in the process of planning a new state-of-the-art building for our incubator program, we have renovated the Collins building within the Park.  This space includes:

  • 10 private offices
  • Customizable shared wet lab space/ equipment
  • Multiple conference rooms
  • Sixty seat seminar room
  • Collaborative (co-working) space
  • Kitchen and break area
  • Networking and educational programs
