The Leon County Research and Development Authority (LCRDA) is a political subdivision of the State of Florida. The contributions of sponsorships are used exclusively for public purposes as required by IRC Section 170(c)(1).
TechGrant Pitch Night sponsorships aid the LCRDA in fulfilling its public purpose of promoting scientific research and development in affiliation with and related to the research and development activities of one or more state-based, accredited, public or private institutions of higher education; fostering economic development, and broadening the economic base of Tallahassee and Leon County.
LCRDA is not a Section 501(c)(3) organization as defined by the Internal Revenue Code. However, according to IRC Section 170(c)(1), charitable contributions include a contribution or gift to or for the use of any political subdivision, but only if the contribution or gift is made for exclusively public purposes.
The Leon County Research and Development Authority cannot provide tax advice.
