On December 8th, the National MagLab shattered another world record with the testing of a 32 tesla magnet. This new magnet is 33% stronger than the previous record holder for the world’s strongest superconducting magnet used for research, and is more than 3,000 times stronger than a small refrigerator magnet!
This new superconducting magnet, designed and built at the MagLab, represents a milestone in high-temperature superconductivity, a phenomenon that made a tremendous stir in the science community when it was first discovered 31 years ago. Click here to learn more.

ACE Tour Recap
Last week, Tallahassee and Innovation Park were showcased during the Eighth Americas Competitiveness Exchange (ACE) tour on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
During their stop in Tallahassee, participants from over 27 countries spent time in Innovation Park and learned about the National MagLab and other resources in the Park, as well as university-driven research primed for commercialization.
Florida A&M University received federal funding to promote entrepreneurship on campus and in the southside of Tallahassee. This funding will be used to encourage and develop startup businesses through the creation of REACH, the Research, Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Hub.
The $1.3 million being received will be matched by FAMU commitments of time and expenditures, as well as external support and matching assistance from other local partners including Innovation Park’s governing entity- the Leon County Research and Development Authority, as well as the Office of Economic Vitality and Domi Station.
Starting next week, we will have a new food truck on Tuesdays! On December 19th, Caribbean Crossroads will take over the food truck spot from Valhalla Grill. Caribbean Crossroads offers a great selection of authentic Caribbean cuisine including jerk chicken, oxtail and even griot. Check out the menu here and make sure to get a taste of this amazing food on Tuesdays.
Reminder: We currently do not have a Food Truck scheduled on Wednesdays, but are in the process of finding a replacement. We will provide an update as soon as we have a new truck scheduled. We always appreciate your suggestions and input. Contact Peggy Bielby: firstname.lastname@example.org
